After the notification, the government is encouraging online payments, but the next step of the Modi government is to force people to return to cash payments. According to media reports, the Modi government is now actively considering cyber security cess on e-payments.
If a cyber security cess is levied on online payment, people will have to pay more for digital payments. According to reports, the financial services department is working with the IT Ministry and the Home Ministry to prepare such a proposal.
Secure fees or cess on online payments will be like clean India Cess, which will be used to create the best framework for digital transaction. Analysts believe that digital cess is not an appropriate step to improve the digital payment security infrastructure. There are also many types of charges being charged on users' digital transaction and if this cess is imposed then people will be forced to pay cash back.
